Charlie, a colorful and ambitious English law student, lies her way into a rent-controlled New York apartment for the summer, by pretending to be a qualified lawyer, but is forced to risk her future career to keep up the pretense when she falls in love with her landlord, Alex, an IT geek who sees the world only in black and white.
